Well, as some of you no I was getting tested for diabetes in the last week or so. Today it has been confirmed that I do have type 2 diabetes. I have to go in for some more tests tomorrow. I guess they need to check my creatinine levels and my hemoglobin levels. These are just 2 of the many tests for tomorrow. I have been prescribed Metformin which is the most common pill for diabetics. I will have to take this for a month and monitor my sugar levels 4 times a day and write them down. After 2 weeks the doctor wants me to go in for a check up to see if the dose of Metformin is balancing my sugar levels. If not he will have to adjust the dose. I mentioned to him that my mom who is also diabetic took Metformin and had a reaction to it so he told me to let him no as soon as I feel any discomforts or reactions once I have started taking it and I can change it to Actos.
I just wanted to update everyone. I will update again as to how my life is changing due to the diabetes. I am not saying that my life will change drastically. I have to go to a Diabetic clinic now and will see a nutritionist. So now I have no excuse but to eat healthy and keep my aqua fit going.

Sorry to hear that Tracey. My grandmother who is now 95 has diabetes for 10 over years already and she has been on medication for as long as I remember. The fortunate thing is, she never get worse or has any complication. With a little change in diet and medication. She is still leading a healthy and happy life. I wish that everything will turn out alright for you.

Thanks Aron. You’re right, it’s good that I found out now instead of having a heart attack or a stroke then finding out that’s what caused it.

Thanks Laura, sorry about your mom. My mom has diabetes too and she now has Kidney failure. This is one of the biggest reasons why I am going to get rid of the diabetes. I see what she is going through and it is tough.

I was diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2 seven years ago at age 50. I was very frightened. But I gave up sugar, white potatoes, white flower, etc. and took a couple of medications, not insulin. I’m not as scared.
