Back at it

Well last week I was unable to attend my aquafit classes for the whole week as I was sick. I was really disappointed in not being able to go as I really enjoy the classes. I am almost back to normal this week and will be going back to class tomorrow night. As I mentioned before I tried out the deep water class a few weeks ago. I will be doing this class again on Wednesday. So from now on Wednesdays I will be doing a double class. Each class will be 45 minutes starting off with the regular aqua fit class and ending with the deep water class. Below is a link to a video of what the deep water class is like. We do not use the hand and feet things just the belt that she has on her waist.

WaterART Deep H20 Training

Those classes are a lot tougher than the regular aquafit classes but I enjoy them as well.  As you can see you do not need to know how to swim as you are using a floater belt that will keep you from sinking as long as you keep moving.  I myself am not a very good swimmer and I don’t have any problems with this class.

    Hey Tracey,

Good luck with your aqua fit class. I have just started back walking again and trying to curb my appetite to lose some these unwanted winter pounds. I know how good swimming is for you but I’m not a swimmer either. I know I can’t drown on dry land. lol Hang in there and let us know your progress.

I might try swimming, I wrecked my knee and foot arch by using a treadmill. I needed to get off it for a month now because my arch feels strange. What injuries are involved with swimming.

    Nice blog, keep it up!

Thanks DrBurst. I have not heard of any injuries in aqua fit. There are a few people in the class that do the aqua fit because of the treadmill being too hard on their joints and also because their doctors or physio therapist have recommended aqua fit to strengthen an injury. You should try it out!!

I have actually had an injury from aquafit. I damaged my Achilles tendon of my left foot. Quite badly actually — swelling and scar tissue. The doc said that tendon injuries are quite common with aquafit because there is the assumption that being in the water prevents injury. Cause — bouncing and over extending the tendon. I’m really disappointed because I LOVE aquafit but now can’t attend for the next two months and the doc is even discouraging returning to it after that. Swimming is fine — just no aquafit.

Oh that’s not very good I hope you are able to return. I hope I do not receive any injuries. I have not yet returned but I can’t wait. I miss it too!
